Travel Yarns - December 2016

Travel Yarns was the lecture topic suggested for an upcoming presentation to the Tucson Handweavers and  Spinners Guild. It's always fun to revisit my extensive stash of travel photos with a textile theme in mind.  Here are two photos from Cambodia followed by  two from the Xinjiang region of China. Many "yarns to spin" about these photos and more!

Lava Folds - October 2016

Working from a photograph of hardened lava taken by my son Peter, I began playing with the intersection of lava and cloth, hard and soft, visual and tactile.  I love this exploratory phase of artmaking!

Simple Complexity - September 2016

What a treat to have the exhibit Simple Complexity by master weaver Kay Sekimachi open at the Craft and Folk Art Museum in Los Angeles - and it is up for three months with a number of related events. The gallery walkthrough on December 4th with curator Holly Jerger is on my calendar, can't wait!
